Once again, the Ambi-turners got into a Nike race, this time in San Fransisco. A course known for hills and fog, a course I ran just 7 days after finishing the Chicago marathon. Needless to say I was exhausted. But, I was energized just to spend a short weekend with three inspiring women. We played (one night a little too hard), we ran, we laughed, and left better friends. Thankfully Kelly ran with me the entire way. If it weren't for her I would have lost energy and trudged up the little hill and the massive hill without one step of joy.
Before we separate into our corrals: Me, Kelly, Dorianna, and Ginger. "We Made It" and we took the time to celebrate that massive climb. A behind-picture behind the We Run sign because we didn't want to wait in the long line for a picture in front of the sign. Oh, silly ambi-turners.

The Chicago marathon was by far the most incredible running event I have ever experienced. Running with 45,000 other marathoners through streets lined with 1.2 million spectators is something that every marathon runner should experience. Seriously, run the Chicago marathon! The race is well organized and the city is beautiful, especially when the weather cooperates: can't beat 55 and sunny. My mom and cousin joined me for 4 days of marathon-centric Chicago site-seeing. It was an experience of a life time. The start, before I entered my corral. At the finish with my mom. I was so excited to her and my cousin.
Another Ambiturner Adventure (minus one) took us to Huntington Beach, California which was a local race for our two California ladies. I trained to qualify for Boston but missed the mark by 1 minute and 45 seconds. Oh well, at least I time-qualified for an automatic entry into the Chicago Marathon! And, the Seahawks won the Superbowl! And, I connected with a friend who I met when I was 7 weeks old and he was a new born (we go way back)! BEST DAY EVER! The "Ambiturners"! We used to get together once a year during Labor Day weekend at the Gorge Amphitheater for a 3-day Dave Matthews Band show. 2 of us live in California and the other 2 live in the Pacific North West. On whim, we entered the lottery for the inaugural Washington, D.C. Nike Women's Half Marathon in April 2013. To our surprise and amazement we got in! After our five days in D.C, we not only ran 13.1 miles through D.C. but we left with friendships, jokes, and Tiffany necklaces. Washington D.C.
